About this piece

Working on 140 lb 100% cotton watercolor paper, I begin with a masking fluid scribble that establishes movement and energy. I splash water onto the surface, creating organic textures evolving into natural elements like water, foliage, flowers, or rocks. I embrace a wet-on-wet technique that combines brushwork with gravity. The paint flows and blends according to its properties. Layers of splattered paint build depth and dimension. When needed, I incorporate colored pencil or black gesso for definition and contrast. I varnish each piece, eliminating the need for glass or plexiglass, allowing viewers to experience the work without barrier or reflection.

I am a member of the Chelsea Painters, a group of artists who meet weekly at the Chelsea Community Fairgrounds to paint and learn from one another. Each June, we also host an Art Fair at the Fairgrounds to share our work with the community.
